Design:
This canvas has been carefully created in miniature painting style by India’s finest artisans. Elegant strokes are applied to etch out the most intricate details on the animals, and the golden ornaments adorned. A pop green background makes this piece attractive for both your living room or prayer space.
In Govardhan art, elegant strokes are applied using a single haired brush in a similar style to miniature paintings. In the Mughal era, this was the primary means of archiving history under the patronage of emperors such as Akbar and Jahangir. Inspired by the popular ‘Pichwai’ paintings, what is special about this art is its super fine intricacy, which cannot be viewed alone with naked eyes and needs a magnifying glass to view the details. For eons, the vibrancy of the paintings were brought out by natural colors from indigo, precious stones, shells, pearls, real gold and silver. While a few of these dexterous artisans can be traced back to north-west Indian territories, much of their history has been lost in modern times.
